Follow the elderlies annual migration in late Fall to early Spring
John Pennekamp, Long Key, Curry Hammock, and Bahia Honda State Parks

The State Parks in the Keys were awesome. I stayed at each of these campgrounds and each one had it's own flavor that would make you want to come back. My favorite of the four was Bahia Honda. Bahia Honda featured two large beaches, a nice hiking trail, and the campsites were right on the ocean and they had a little bit of shade. I know, I shouldn't complain about the heat, as I came down here to escape the cold I was experiencing in Virginia, but man, it was really really hot. With only my car and my tent for shelter most days I didn't know where to go to escape the 90 degree heat and pounding rays of the sun. I could only play in the ocean so much before I got tired of it.
Since I couldn't hide, I just took it. I ended up with a bright red sun-tan, but it was worth it to see the beauty that the Florida Keys have to offer. If you're looking for nightlife, I am sure you can find it, but all I found was old-timers. I was happy with this, as a bonfire and snacks is my kind of night opposed to a stiff drink and a dance floor.
