My Two cents:

I know that I'm usually partial to a place that I've visited more recently, but I don't believe that I'm giving this majestic park an unearned bump in its rating. There are more than 700 miles of hiking trails in this park. Each trail offering a different perspective of the abundant mountain peaks, lakes, and 26 glaciers that are still (they are expected to be gone by 2020) in existence. My stay was short, but I managed to squeeze in two "day-hikes" in one day. I headed to Grinnel Glacier and upon my return I immediately headed back up the mountains to Iceburg Lake. I'd highly reccomend both trails and the sights are something you have to see to believe.

I camped one night at Apgar Village and another night at St Mary's campground. Both of these campgrounds were nice, but there are much nicer campgrounds in the park. These campgrounds are first-come, first serve and you really have to get in there early to get a spot. I was unsuccessful this time, but I plan on getting a spot at the Many Glacier campground upon my return later this summer.

It would be a shame if you passed anywhere within a few hours of this park and didn't at least take Going to the Sun Road to cross the Rocky Mountains. Dozens of waterfalls spill down the mountain walls as road weaves its way in and out of the mountains for 52 miles. Most likely you'll encounter some wildlife along the way and you'll probably stop a time or twenty to snap a few pictures or to simply take in the views. If you're in the right place at the right time like I was, you might even have the opportunity to help a ranger try and scare a bear away from the road. I wasn't successful, but it was fun yelling at the furry little guy even though it didn't listen to me.
